Fort Ord
Fort Ord, closed in 1994, is a former United States Army post in the Monterey Bay area on the Pacific Coast of California. Designated as a fort in 1940, the land was used as a maneuver area and field-artillery target range during 1917. The 7th Infantry Division was its main garrison for many years. Most of the fort’s land now makes up the Fort Ord National Monument, managed by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management as part of the National Landscape Conservation System. During the summer of 2015 once again the no trespassing restriction caught my attention.
I would like to dedicate this to my wondrous niece Evette who had the spunk to direct and chaperone me on this adventure. (Photographed with an infrared converted camera therefore the imaginative color palette.)
